November Malawi Update

Greetings from the Warm Heart of Africa!

Independence is one of the rare lessons our schools can offer.  African women are generally busiest members of the household.  They wake up early and go to sleep late, taking care of their husbands, children and other dependents.

An African girl child is trained to take care of her siblings and even parents at a very tender age.  She helps her mother clean the house, takes her little siblings to school and brings them back home after school.
Malawian children, of ages 3 to 5 years old, walk a long distance alone, thereby adapting independence early in life.  Every child feels duty bound to render support to their peers without waiting for their parents and guardians to do their expected duties. Children feel empathy at every setback their siblings face, hence each generation contributes to solving the challenges of their time without relying on the prior generations.

The major challenge is that these responsibilities affect their achievements in education and render them more vulnerable to early marriages.

However, there is potential for change while maintaining family loyalty.  FVM supports young women in their endeavours towards building a brighter future by offering scholarships for secondary and post secondary education based on academic excellence. Pictured here - these two young women were just like the other children pictured in this report, however there is hope for their future as Grace (right) is in medical school at University of Malawi College of Medicine and Sheila (left) has just graduated from Bunda College with a degree in agriculture.
Thank you for your support, as we seek to improve the lives of the most vulnerable and  provide a stable future for an empowered generation!

PRAYER POINT:
Please pray for the children of Malawi

In His Service,
