HAPPY THANKSGIVING (to our American friends) and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!

This year has been another period of uncertainty, health challenges, economic stress and restrictions in getting together with loved ones and friends.

And yet at the same time we have much to be thankful for here in North America and in Malawi.

EDUCATION

During the last few months you have received updates highlighting success stories from young people completing post – secondary education in Malawi.

SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH INITIATIVE

Just this month you have received a summary of the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) challenges facing the youth, especially young girls, in Malawi.

Recap : Maternal mortality rate in Malawi is 439/100,00 compared to 10/100,000 in Canada. One in four teenage girls is a mother and adolescent pregnancies comprise 29% of all births and lead to 15% of maternal deaths in Malawi.

FVM has established a multi-year program to bring awareness and relevant resources through local African leaders, partners and staff to address these challenges.
