Greetings from the Warm Heart of Africa!...
As the end of 2017 approaches we want to thank you for your support this past year for the work taking place in Malawi.  A significant portion of our work in Malawi involves educational support for youth from 2 years old through university and health care initiatives.  This month we will highlight a few of these initiatives and the progress being made in these areas.

EDUCATION TUITION
FVM Canada has been providing education support to several students from underprivileged households. There have been several success stories shared over the years as more than 60 students from Secondary Schools and colleges have been benefiting since 2010.
Dan, John and Joseph had opportunity to visit and interact with medical students at Malawi College of Medicine (CoM) in Blantyre. These students have been getting education assistance from FVM Canada from their secondary school days up to now. Madalitso Kalua (first from left), is in her final year leading doctorate degree in Medicine and Surgery. Trudar Kawaza (third from left) is in her first year, and Grace Chikonga (second from right) is in her third year. Thank you all sponsors and partners for the role you have played in these lives!!

ADULT LITERACY
Malawi has high illiteracy (about 53%) and in this modern world  most services need someone who has basic abilities to read and write. The Malawi Government has initiated adult literacy schools where illiterate adults get basic education.

FVM Canada participated in the district function that took place at Nasawa Technical College where 187 people graduated. It was so pleasing to witness elderly people reading for the first time! This endeavour emphasized the fact that education is the catalyst of every sustainable development. (PICTURE BELOW: Elderly participant reading at district function)

WOMEN'S TAILORING CLASSES
Currently there is a class of 24 learning tailoring.  These women are learning the operation of sewing machines and the process of making clothing. The aim of this initiative is to empower women with a skill that will enable them to start a cloth making business, thus allowing them more economic stability. Six women are expected to graduate this month (December 2017).
HEALTH CARE INITIATIVES
Dignitas International (DI) is a Canadian organisation that provides different health services for people suffering with diseases such as HIV and AIDS, TB and non-communicable diseases. FVM Canada intends to embark in health interventions in the same lines and after a thorough discussion with DI management a consensus to come up with a memorandum of understanding to easily combine effort in reaching out the people with the health services. In 2018, FVM Canada will work with DI and Ministry of Health (MoH) to carry out HIV and AIDS activities such as awareness, testing and counselling; Water, Sanitation and Health (WASH), and interventions in non-communicable diseases which are in the increase.
The last couple of months of the year have been a time of celebration with friends and co-workers as we give thanks to God for His amazing work in Malawi. As we wrap up the year we look back and realise that this couldn't have been done without you...our partners...supporting the people of Malawi. So much accomplishments worthy of reminding us of the divine power working in us.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

 In His Service,

Would you consider a Christmas donation to help ensure that FVM can continue "to minister to the needs of the whole person, spirit, soul and body"?
