Hello from the Warm Heart of Africa!...

The month of May marks the beginning of winter in Malawi so generally the weather is mild and nice for most people. As we enter this new season, we would also like to take the opportunity over the next few months to introduce our readers to some individuals that are working with or have been impacted by the work of FVM.

Hello! I am Justin J. Chimpeni
From the deepest of my heart, it is with great enthusiasm that I express my gratitude and thankfulness for the support that Future Vision Ministries has rendered in my life. It was in 2011 when I got selected to one of the Malawi’s public universities, University of Malawi, Bunda College of Agriculture to pursue a four years undergraduate study in Environmental Sciences. Due to my family’s financial incapacitation, I could not manage to access this tertiary education as none of my relatives could afford paying me the school fees. It was during this moment of desperation that Future vision Ministries came to my rescue by taking up the responsibility of paying for my school fees, an initiative that I do not take for granted and worth appreciation.

I did my studies from November, 2011 to October, 2015 after which I was awarded with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science with credit. I am very grateful for this achievement in my life and I sincerely thank God through Future Vision Ministries in making my life dream a reality. After completing my studies I am now working with Answer Private Academy in Dowa district of Malawi as a secondary school science teacher whilst I am hoping to get some work opportunities related to my field of study in college. I may also wish to express my gratefulness and bring to your attention that I am now happily married to my beautiful wife Ellen. In addition, I am but consciously compelled not to underscore the brilliant and unselfish efforts being done by the Malawi’s Future Vision-Zomba officer, Mr Newton Sunday Sindo. He has been an encouragement, a very good company and so kind in all aspects of my life experiences both within and without my college studies. I wish the Almighty God to add him more years and good health to continue reaching out to many vulnerable Malawians as he currently does through Future Vision Ministries.

Once again I sincerely thank the whole Future Vision Team for the great life contributions made to my life. May the good Lord of hosts, the creator of heavens and earth bless and uplifts Future Vision Ministries in Malawi, Canada and elsewhere across the world.

Some highlights of the last month...
  • There have been several field monitoring visits to appreciate the work done by community members.
  • Community members have started giving back the soybeans and the cow peas in the food multiplication program.
  • FVM was involved in planning for health activities with the Ministry of Health for the financial year July 2017 to June 2018. This is so important in making sure FVM does not work in isolation in its interventions.
  • FVM participated in campaigning for girls education and a scholarship fund for girls was launched at Mulunguzi Secondary School. Presently there are some donors who have joined hands with the Malawi Government in making sure a girl child, who is culturally vulnerable to school dropouts, is assisted with a package like tuition fees, clothes and school materials (photos below of the march in support of scholarship program for girls.)

  • Weekly Radio broadcasts of the Gospel in two major local languages (Tumbuka and Chichewa) have been continuing very well on Trans World Radio (TWR). I am pleased to inform you that having seen a large following of the programs and due to the feedback received, TWR has offered one more broadcast for Tumbuka free of charge as they did a year ago with Chichewa broadcasts. Now Tumbuka messages are broadcast on the usual Sunday afternoon and Friday 10.30am. There is very encouraging feedback from listeners. “Mauthenga alibwino ndikudalitsika nawo kwambiri. Ambuye apitirize kuwagwiritsa tchito abusawo (I am always blessed with the messages. May the Lord continue using the pastor),” says one listener.
  • There were three Gospel outreaches in two communities reaching out to 300 people.
  • FVM participated in training the community leaders with an organisation called PACHI. 100 community leaders were trained in leadership and their rights to development (see photos below).
