~A Letter from a Recent Graduate~

I am Shirrah Wonderful Kagwamminga. I lost both parents when I was 14 years old. I was doing my junior secondary education at Providence Girls Secondary School.  Future Vision Ministries (FVM) started providing scholarship in 2012 through Student Christian Organisation of Malawi (SCOM) when I was in third year in Secondary School. The education assistance covered tuition fees till I completed my secondary education in 2013. By the grace of God, I was selected to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). As per promise, FVM continued contributing to my tuition fees from first year to fourth (final) year of my university education. Through the assistance I was able to finish both my secondary school and university without facing any financial problems in regards to my school fees.

As I write this, I have just obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Granada, Spain. I got a scholarship to further my studies in Spain by the Women for Africa Foundation (WAF) in 2019.

I believe that God came through for me at the moment I really needed help in 2012 through Future Vision Ministries. If I had not completed secondary education, I could not have been able to be where I am today. It has been such a great honour to be part of those that have benefitted from FVM.

Through the assistance I received, I have been encouraged to always be there for others who need help anytime I am in position to do so. I have learnt that helping others starts with the little you have, one does not have to wait to have more to help.

Special thanks go to the Almighty God for giving me such a privilege. To FVM, words fail me to describe how grateful I am for the financial and spiritual assistance that was rendered to me throughout my secondary and university education. May the good LORD who enabled you to come through for me continue to open doors for the ministry.

Thank you.

Praise God for what He has been able to do in the life of Shirrah!  Your support through prayers and financial means have allowed FVM to assist many students with their tuition fees and allowed them to meet educational goals that will change the course of their lives.  Stay tuned for another success story in the future!
                                                          THANK YOU!

Greetings!..

The period between mid-March and mid-April 2021 can be labelled “New Dawn” in FVM's work in Malawi as community visits have been re-started after a long time due to Covid-19 restrictions.   We are thankful that we can continue to carry out our mandate of ministering to the needs of the whole person- spirit, soul and body.

In addition to the regular activities FVM carries out, this past month FVM distributed relief food aid to the community.  760 families (3,800 beneficiaries) were given maize/corn which is used to prepare the main food called “nsima”. For a family of five, 25kg (which costs $7USD) will last three weeks.

Below are some of the happy faces of community members receiving their bag of maize.

What has been happening...

  • Less children (about 300 out of 500) resumed preschool and feeding due to uncertainty of Covid-19 threats. Slowly the number of children attending lessons and receiving food in increasing.

  • Covid-19 vaccination (AstraZeneca) is in progress with an initial slow response as the majority of rural masses feel the vaccine is not good. The main reason in high level of illiteracy, religious beliefs and inadequate sensitization.  Covid-19 cases continue to increase in the country, but at a considerably lower rate than in past months.

  • 5 Community-based Bible Study sessions were conducted.

  • Radio broadcasts in Chichewa and ChiTumbuka languages have continued to inspire about 6 million people with the Good News.

Prayer Points:

  • A continuation of activities that were halted due to Covid-19
  • Thankful for the distribution of food to community members

Thank you for your prayers and support.
