January 2018 has been a time of planning and budgeting. It is hoped that the year 2018 will be as fruitful as have been the years past. It is also hoped that partners, well-wishers and supporters will continue rendering their unceasing support. This year, FVM is focusing on some health initiatives, in particular HIV/AIDS and non-communicable disease programs. Malawi, just like most Sub-Saharan countries faces so many health challenges. Healthy people are the only assurance of continued social and economic development within a nation. Please join the team in such exciting noble tasks.
- More than 400 young people in secondary schools and colleges were reached with the Good News through Student Christian Organisation of Malawi (SCOM), an old partner organisation in reaching out the student world with the message of hope.
- Volunteers of our preschool program were trained in various areas of child growth and got necessary skills to help them foster child development.
Rains started at a promising note in November, 2017 and crop was quite promising especially in the Southern Region of Malawi. However, drought of over 40 days scorched the crops thereby causing a threat to food security. Ministry of Agriculture is assessing the damage but obviously there will be hunger from March this year. The expected harvest will definitely be less than expected average. Please pray for the harvest and that enough food will be provided.
