Spending three days in Nandolo at Chifundo ( Mercy) Nursery School near the Mozambique border where FVM is assisting in the expansion of the facility for over 300 children who otherwise would not have access to education. Kudos to Chief Nandolo , Ellena the volunteer teacher and others who are working so hard there. Out of the little they have, they loaded us with sugar cane, pineapples, bananas, plantains and more !
Visiting in the homes of the faithful volunteers in Taulo ( Chrissy, Adolla, Richard and Edwin) as well as Chief Taulo and his family ( daughter Anita !) where we had the privilege of sharing meals with them and were honoured with generous gifts of maize, groundnuts, sweet potatoes, rice, live chickens and doves.
Touring the recording studio where Newton Sindo, Pastor Gama, Pastor Falinya and Pastor Kalua air weekly Bible messages in Chichewa and Tumbuka heard across the country.
Two days of R and R at Liwonde Park, Lake Malawi and Mua Mission where Julie and Theresa had the opportunity to experience the “wild side” of Malawi !
Spending time with Paul and Helen Jones of Emmanuel International observing the work they support in Early Childhood Development and watershed management. Also touring the millennium village which is one of Jeffrey Sachs’s projects.
As always, we enjoyed working with our tireless friend, Newton Sindo and his wife, Idah and their family in whose home we enjoyed great fellowship, good conversation, lots of laughter … and great meals and cups of tea.
Thanks to all who supported this trip through prayer and donations of school materials … and especially to our African leaders from whom we again had the privilege of “listening and learning”.
As Chris so often said throughout the trip as an encouragement to our Malawian family ( and it’s true of them) “ joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” Romans 12:12.
Dan and Chris, Julie and Theresa.
