Introduction

It is half a year nowof 2015! At the same time, this is FVM’s 5th year of operations in Southern Malawi! Wow! “Pachoko pachoko” (little by little) greater things are happening. Things are going on very well in Malawi programmes and projects. Major activities such as preschool and feeding, humanitarian relief food distribution, education assistance (sponsorship), women empowerment, classroom painting and decoration and spiritual care have been carries out. This report highlights few activities that have been carried out in June 2015.

Soybean Collection

As it has been witnessed, this year farming season was hit by floods and dry spell. These contrast occurrences within this farming were enough indicators that the soybean multiplication initiative that would engage the community in multiplying 1500kg seed input to at least 3000kg, i.e. double as much, would have a negative output in form of volume and quality of soybean realised. However, few community members who were able to harvest have returned whatever they were able to. So far, about 900kg have been gathered by these faithful and hardworking stewards!

“Ngakhale chaka ichi zavuta chonchi, koma mu ulimi wa soya muli phindu lochuluka ndipo tikupempha a Future Vision kupitiriza nafe (though it has been a bad farming year, we ask Future Vision Ministries to continue with us in this initiative because it is more profitable),” said Raphel Falaminga, the chair of soybean multiplication initiative committee.

Women Empowerment - Tailoring

Women and some men gather every Tuesdays or/and Thursdays in a week to share ideas in advancing their skills in sewing using the machines FVM has provided in Taulo Area. As they do the sewing, they also share ideas about their social and economic development.

Spiritual Care Programmes

Community weekly Bible Study activities have been steadily taking place with Pastor Justin Falinya. It is so encouraging to note that now people seem to understand the need to worship God even personally.

Radio Broadcasts of the word of God in Chichewa and Tumbuka (local languages) are going on very well with encouraging feedback. “Do you have some recorded CDs for your programs? I feel like listening to your teaching every time,” Fwanga from Chilinde in Lilongwe.
