Where is Malawi?
Malawi is a small landlocked country in Central Africa, bordered by Mozambique, Tanzania, and Zambia. Formerly Nyasaland, Malawi was extensively explored by David Livingstone during his expeditions throughout Africa.
Malawi is located just one country inland of the Indian Ocean and is situated at the southern tip of the Great Rift Valley. Jutting out of the Rift Valley floor in the centre of the country are the great massifs of Zomba and Mulanje, two mountains that rise high above the clouds. Climbers have been scaling Mulanje's heights for years, though locals refuse to make the ascent because they believe the peaks are haunted by the spirits of their ancestors.
Taulo area (highlighted in the map on the right) is in the south of the country lying between these two mountains.
